Originally constructed for Henry Truehart Adriance, a partner in the first chartered realty firm in Galveston, the property continued as a private residence until 2002. It was then purchased by Jim and Connie Porter for the purpose of converting it into an island retreat. Prior to moving to Galveston, Jim and Connie were long-time residents of the South Pacific and this influence can be seen throughout the house. The house sits on a third of an acre lot surrounded by lush tropical foliage, making it an ideal setting for a romantic getaway or just a break from the workaday world.

The Dining and Living rooms are decorated with an eclectic blend of contemporary and antique. Both offer comfort and space to relax and gather for conversation, reading, playing games, or just doing nothing. Avenue O Bed & Breakfast offers the perfect romantic setting for the celebration of your choice. Avenue O can accommodate up to 50 people indoors for a stand up reception, and 35 guests for a sit down function. Outside, in the beautifully landscaped yard, up to 75 people can be accommodated for a stand up affair; up to 50 guests seated. You can rent the venue only, or let them coordinate everything for you.
