Galveston.com Review On a Monday we were delighted to find that Casey’s is now open seven days a week. We chose Casey’s for a weeknight foray because Seawall eateries get packed on weekends. Even on Monday there was a good crowd, but we were seated immediately. Our waitperson was friendly and energetic.
We chose from the decent and reasonably-priced wine list for an accompaniment to our appetizer of “Iced premium Gulf Shrimp”. They were tender and fresh and boiled to perfection. The remoulade sauce was exceptionally tasty.
My companion was quite hungry and selected the Seafood Platter, charcoal grilled. This included five gulf shrimp, tenderloin of fish of the day, and bay shrimp. The gulf shrimp were again delicious and perfectly grilled. The bay shrimp he could have done without, as they were small and not particularly appealing. The redfish was delicious and the serving size was sufficient for just about any appetite.
I decided to try out the New York Sirloin Strip, also charcoal grilled. It came with au gratin potatoes and onion rings. The steak was good for the price, and the serving was generous. The potatoes did not seem to have the same consistency as those at Gaido’s but they were flavorful. I bypassed the onion rings for caloric reasons, but they looked good. Both entrees came with fresh salads. As we have come to expect for Casey’s and Gaido’s, the salad was crisp and delicious.
For dessert we shared a piece of crustless pecan pie. They were out of ice cream so it came with fresh strawberries. It is sinfully delicious and I totally recommend it if you are a pecan lover.
Casey’s is a family-friendly restaurant, and allows casual dress. Servings are generous and there is a wide range of selections from the entire family, ranging from several kids’ choices plus some for seniors. Whether you want a seafood or steak dinner that won’t empty your pockets, or burgers, salad or soups, you’ll enjoy Casey’s. |
