Slip away for a relaxing vacation in the privacy and tranquility of a historic Victorian cottage conveniently located to all the beauty and diversity Galveston has to offer.
Experience historic Galveston Island from the comfort of this one of a kind, Queen Anne villa located in the heart of the unique East End historical district, which entails one of the largest, well preserved concentrations of Victorian architecture in the country. Built by German craftsmen in 1895, the home withstood the devastation of the 1900 category 5 hurricane and the catastrophic storm surge that followed. The home also escaped the recent destruction of Hurricane Ike.
Upon entering, you are handsomely greeted by a double grand foyer with an 8 foot arched stained glass window. The house comes well appointed with eleven foot ceilings, original wood fireplaces, hand carved ornamental staircase, intricate moldings, casework and gingerbread transoms all painstakingly restored to their original pristine condition. The first floor has a formal living room, a formal dining room with mahogany stained long leaf pine wainscoting, breakfast nook and family room perfect for large or small family gatherings. The newly remodeled kitchen is fully equipped to provide all the luxuries and conveniences of your own home. A large nine foot granite island provides additional bar style seating.
There are four cozy bedrooms on the second floor which will accommodate eight people comfortably. Additional sleeping lofts and reading alcoves can be utilized as well.
The bathrooms have been comfortably renovated providing modern amenities and fixtures. A refreshing in-ground pool is available right from the comfort and privacy of the secluded back yard.
This inviting home is the perfect beach house for a family or ideally suited for a romantic getaway. Gather together on the porch and take in the rich architectural heritage that surrounds you. The beautiful echo of the church bells tolling take you back into an area of long ago. Enjoy a peaceful walk or bike ride through the candy colored houses that line the streets of the neighborhood. The beach is only five minutes away where you can while away the day watching pelicans fly by or just settle in the sand and sun. Shopping at nearby boutiques or souvenir hunting at local hangouts can all be found in close proximity to the historic area. Restaurants abound – whether you are in the mood for Seafood, Mexican or Italian – they are all nearby. Local attractions – Moody Gardens, Schlitterbahn and more provide a fun filled vacation for the entire family to enjoy.
