In fact, it was through his construction company, Tramonte Builders Inc., that he developed an interest in real estate. "He went back to school and got his real estate license at the age of 50 and opened Joe Tramonte Realty in 1967," V.J. Tramonte, son and company vice president, said. Although Tramonte turned 84 in December 2000, he remained active in the company until his passing, serving as president/broker.
As a 1940 graduate of Texas A&M University, Tramonte was very involved with the 12th Man Foundation and the Galveston County Texas A&M Club. He was a member of the Serra Club and celebrated 53 years of marriage to his beloved wife, Margaret. Tramonte worked hard to establish a team of Realtors and staff members committed to the betterment of real estate and the Galveston community.
