Fountain at Ball & 23rd Streets

One of the Gifts of Henry Rosenberg revealed in his will after his death in 1893. Of the original seventeen Rosenberg fountains, only nine still exist. Many of these have been moved to their present sites from other locations on the island. Each fountain bears a unique design.

The largest and most expensive of the Rosenberg fountains originally stood in the 25th Street esplanade at the south side of the Strand. Later, it was moved to the Broadway esplanade at 59th Street, but it was taken down in 1951 when Broadway was widened. It was restored in 1995 and currently stands on the north lawn of Rosenberg Library at 23rd Street and Ball Street.

It is one of nine remaining fountains of the original seventeen that Henry Rosenberg funded in his last will and testament.
