Guy Running in Santa Hustle Race

Santa Hustle Half Marathon and 5K

Over 4,000 participants from across the region descended on Galveston Island this holiday season, donning Santa suits and beards to hit the streets for the 8th Annual Santa Hustle Galveston. Galveston’s Moody Gardens hosted the race area and expo, and the flat and fast course took runners along beautiful Seawall Boulevard.

Fastpitch America Softball Association Gulf Coast National

Galveston Island played host to 56 teams from six states for the second annual FASA Gulf Coast National softball tournament. The City of Galveston’s brand-new, state-of-the-art complex at Crockett Park served as the central hub for the tournament, and over 2,000 guests were treated to an opening ceremony and exclusive early park access at Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark.

USA Volleyball Beach National Qualifiers

Galveston’s East Beach hosted 12 beach volleyball tournaments in 2019, including two USA Volleyball Beach National Qualifiers. Over 1,100 teams enjoyed the park’s 20 permanent beach volleyball setups and spectators took advantage of the 80-acre beach park’s amenities including the elevated pavilion complete with restrooms, showers and a beer and wine bar.

USA Gymnastics Region 3 Xcel Championships

USA Gymnastics hosted their Region 3 Xcel Championships in Galveston Island, welcoming over 3,000 spectators and participants from seven states. The competition was held at the Galveston Island Convention Center, a beachfront, 140,000-square-foot complex. Attendees enjoyed beautiful Gulf views from the state-of-the-art convention center, which offers amenities such as free parking, complimentary wifi and complimentary transportation to contracted hotels.
