The F Word
The Cruise Lady
Warm days – cool nights! The perfect recipe for the “F” word – FOG!
In Galveston, you’ll see a lot of the “F” word during this time of year. In fact, Galveston is one of the “f”iest places in Texas between November and March – often limiting visibility to a quarter-mile or even less – and causing a “giant mess” at the cruise terminals!
Oh – Lorraine understands – you’ve planned your cruise – you’re all packed – you’re anxious to get to the port and get onboard that ship. Problem is – that ship may be sitting in line somewhere in the channel waiting for the “f” to lift before it can even dock. And, that ship is loaded with luggage to be unloaded and passengers to be debarked, many of whom may miss their flights or are not looking forward to that long drive home – the perfect formula for “f**angst”!
How to avoid this dread? Check the weather before you head to the terminal. Do not attempt to check in before your suggested time – do not get stuck with your luggage – simply go and enjoy Galveston! Visit www.galveston.com for things to do. If you’re on a mobile device, you will be directed to their mobile site.
Remember, from the Port of Galveston, it’s just a short walk to the Strand – go explore all there is to do and see. Do some shopping, grab a bite, of just sip a “brewski” or two and wait for your ship to come in! Believe you me, it’s a lot more fun than “twiddling your thumbs” sitting there in the cruise terminal just waiting (and waiting)!
If you’re arriving late – if you missed your flight – or if you just don’t feel up to a long drive home, simply stay the night in one of our fine hotels.
The point is – don’t let “f**angst” ruin your vacation – turn it into an adventure!
